Vehicle Lease Termination

SCRA allows service members to terminate car leases early without penalty when receiving PCS orders, deployment orders, or entering active duty. Find your manufacturer below.

Who Can Terminate Early?

You Qualify If

  • You leased the vehicle before entering active duty, OR
  • You're on active duty and receive PCS orders, OR
  • You receive deployment orders for 180+ days

Orders Required

  • PCS (Permanent Change of Station) orders
  • Deployment orders for 180+ days
  • Orders to report for active duty (Guard/Reserve)

What They Can't Charge

  • Early termination fees
  • Remaining lease payments
  • Administrative fees

What You May Owe

  • Excess mileage over lease allowance
  • Excess wear and damage
  • Outstanding balances due at time of termination

How to Terminate Your Lease

Contact Lease Company

Call the financing company (not the dealer) and request SCRA lease termination.

Submit Written Notice

Send written termination notice with a copy of your military orders.

Return Vehicle

Return the vehicle within 15 days of delivering your written notice.

4

Get Confirmation

Obtain written confirmation that the lease has been terminated.
