About Santander SCRA Benefits

Santander Consumer USA is one of the largest auto lenders in the United States, financing millions of vehicle purchases. If you have an auto loan through Santander that was originated before entering active duty, you're entitled to SCRA protections including the 6% interest rate cap and repossession protection.

Repossession Protection

In addition to the rate cap, SCRA protects you from vehicle repossession without a court order while on active duty. Santander cannot repossess your vehicle without going through proper legal channels.

SCRA Benefits for Santander Auto Loans

  • 6% Interest Rate Cap - Rate reduced to 6% on pre-service auto loans

Common Issues

"My rate is already close to 6%" - Even a small reduction can add up over the life of the loan. Plus, you're entitled to retroactive refunds.

"I bought the car after joining" - SCRA only covers loans originated BEFORE active duty. However, if you're Guard/Reserve and the loan was before your activation orders, it may qualify.

"They want additional documentation" - Your military orders should be sufficient. If they ask for more, provide your LES as additional verification.

Pro Tip

Santander has a dedicated SCRA email address, which can be faster than phone or fax. Send your orders and request via email for a paper trail.
