Verizon SCRA Guide
Cell Phone Service
Your Options
Verizon offers military members two options when receiving deployment or PCS orders:
Military Suspend
Pause your service for up to 36 months. No monthly charges. Keep your number. Device payments also pause.
Cancel Service
Terminate service entirely under SCRA. No early termination fees. You may still owe for device payment balance.
Recommendation
For deployment, Military Suspend is usually better—you keep your number and device payments pause. For permanent overseas PCS, cancellation may make more sense.
How to Suspend or Cancel
- Call Verizon at 1-800-922-0204 and request military suspension or SCRA cancellation
- Provide military orders - They'll ask for your orders to verify
- Confirm in My Verizon - Check your account to confirm the status change

Device Payment Plans
If you're on a device payment plan, SCRA cancellation waives service fees but you may still owe the remaining balance on the phone. Military Suspend pauses device payments too—ask about this option.
